Breaking News Story Part 2

Melanin is a type of  pigment that gives our hair its color. Darker hair has more melanin & lighter hair has less melanin. Gray hair has no melanin. I've observed clients of all ages begin to gray & sometimes it's due to maturity, hereditary, serious illness or nervous shock. It's been suggested that those who are vitamin B-12 deficient or have thyroid conditions can experience temporary loss of melanin, which could mean temporary gray hair.
Maintenance tips: Gray hair tends to be dry, course or wiry, so avoid deep cleansing & protein based shampoos (which harden). Use hydrating shampoos & conditioners to soften. On occasion, purple shampoos & a clarifying shampoo helps neutralize unwanted yellowing caused by direct sun, relaxers, smoke & chlorine. If no yellowing then no need to use the purple shampoo or clarifyer. If your gray hair is turning purple then you're using the purple shampoo too often. For shine use a light hair gloss or serum & increase your water intake because a slow digestive system dulls your hair.  Consider using styling products that are clear or white (in color) if your gray starts absorbing other colors. 1. Love the pictures. Thanks. Helen Mirren is just stunnng and Joan Baez finally cut her hair. I know Alberto VO5 makes a dressing for gray hair. Also didn't know about the digestion connection and drinking more water. Great hints and tips.
